Plugin License Fees from November 2022

Plugin License Fees from November 2022

Unfortunately, the global cost explosions have also reached us. The license fees for the paid plugins and services we use have increased significantly. Therefore, from November 1, 2022, we will no longer be able to maintain our previous service model of completely covering the annual costs for licensed plugins and services for our customers.

From November 1, 2022, we will have to pass on part of the license fees to our customers. You can pay for this as an annual subscription. Until now, the licenses were either unlimited annually or very cheap if they were limited. But the increased costs were also passed on to the licensees by the plugin manufacturers and service providers. We therefore also have to pass on part of the license fees to our customers on whose websites we use these plugins and services in order to continue to operate economically.

Since we stand for secure, high-performance and search engine optimized websites, it is neither in your nor our interest to switch to free plugins. The so-called free plugins are often limited versions, are poorly maintained, are usually complicated to configure or often have compatibility problems with other plugins. Sometimes problems can take several days for support to respond, or there may be no response for weeks.

You only have to pay the fee if:

  • you do not have a maintenance contract with us.
  • you do not have a website rental agreement with us.

Royalties

The annual license fees are now 120 euros and only have to be paid if our premium plugins are used and the customer does not have a maintenance contract or rental agreement.

Overview of the affected plugins and services:

  • Elementor Page Builder Plugin / Bricks Builder Theme:With this addon we build your entire website, including design and content.
  • SEOPress Pro:Search engine optimization is one of the most important disciplines today. A website without SEO has no value. SEOPress is one of the best SEO plugins for WordPress.
  • eRecht24:We work with eRecht24 to ensure a proper legal notice and a secure data protection declaration. A warning because of an inadequate data protection declaration can cost several thousand euros. eRecht24 also provides cookie banners and content blockers in accordance with GDPR and ePrivacy.
  • WP Rocket:THE performance plugin par excellence and at the same time the best there is for WordPress. Performance is important for usability and also for search engine optimization.
  • WPML:The best and most feature-rich plugin to make a website multilingual. At the same time, it is also one of the most cost-effective plugins.
  • German Market:Anyone who runs a shop with WooCommerce relies on a plugin that ensures legal certainty in Germany. We chose German Market from Marketpress because this plugin ensures the best compatibility.

Alternatives:

If you do not agree with the license fee, we can offer you 3 further options:

  1. Complete a maintenance contract:You can conclude one of our 3 maintenance contracts with us from now on, but no later than November 1, 2022.
  2. Removal of license numbers:You can agree with us to remove the license numbers. The plugins will still work, but there will be no more updates for these plugins, which may cause problems in the near future regarding emerging security vulnerabilities or incompatibilities with other plugins or new WordPress versions. We accept no liability for these problems that arise and will then have to charge for the correction of these problems. The data protection declaration will no longer be updated and an existing cookie banner will be replaced by a simple cookie information banner that does not block any content, which increases the risk of warnings. You will then need to hire a lawyer to update the data protection declaration. We will then use the adapted data protection declaration for a fee. Or we can create a data protection declaration adapted to the new laws for you via eRecht24 for a fee.
  3. Exchange for free plugins:We can exchange the paid plugins for free plugins. You will then have to cover the costs of replacing the plugins as well as any problems that may arise with these plugins in the future. The same conditions apply to the data protection declaration and the cookie banner as to option 2.
