Video Search Engine Marketing

Video Search Engine Marketing

Optimal search engine marketing (SEM) is more important today than ever before. In the past, it was enough to write a good text and include relevant keywords in order to be found on Google. Today, however, other media are needed, including audiovisual media and images.

Information that is searched for on the Internet must be clearly structured and be present in its entirety on the first page, the so-called landing page. The use of images and audiovisual media helps to dramatically increase the time spent on this page. So if you make an effort and brighten up your website with images and a video, you have the best chance of generating significantly more visitors and therefore a high number of leads (interested inquiries from potential customers).

However, a big problem here is that there are now so many videos on the Internet that it is difficult to be found. Especially on YouTube, it is challenging to make a video stand out and be clicked on. With around 500 hours of video material uploaded to YouTube worldwide every minute, a single video is very likely to get lost in the crowd.

However, Google has now incorporated some options to better display audiovisual media in search results. This also includes the so-called video snippets. Here, a small preview image of the video will appear in the search results. Such search results are much more noticeable and can lead to significantly higher click rates. After clicking on the link, the visitor is directly on the website with the corresponding video - on your homepage, so to speak!

It is important to know that with this form of presentation the video should be hosted itself, i.e. on its own server.

Integrating such a video is extremely easy and we would be happy to help you with the implementation.

Addendum 2024:

Video search engine marketing continues to be one of the most effective strategies for increasing online visibility. Current trends show that the importance of videos in search engine optimization continues to increase. Platforms like YouTube and TikTok offer enormous potential for increasing reach. In order to stand out from the crowd, it is important not only to optimize videos technically, but also to tailor the content to the needs of the target group. Tools like YouTube Analytics and Google Search Console help monitor and continually improve video performance.
