Nevertheless, many entrepreneurs distance themselves from having a film made. It is often the impenetrable price war that many video production providers engage in. It is often difficult to decide which price is reputable and whether the quality of the film meets your wishes and requirements.
Paying a high price and ending up with a bad film – no one wants that! But what is the reality? The well and lavishly produced corporate films with high quality standards are mostly in the 4 to 5 figure range. However, there are also dumping offers for image films in the three-digit range. However, in most cases the quality leaves something to be desired. Only dubious providers fall into the “films under 1,000 euros” category. Only customer testimonial videos can often be produced for less than 1,000 euros.
A film has to look good, appeal to the target group and attract new customers. To achieve this, the film must be produced to a high standard, the concept and storytelling must be right and it must have an emotionally lasting effect. It takes a lot of professional knowledge to achieve this.
There are many different factors that determine the price of a video:
- Simple film script or a comprehensive concept with script and storyboard
- Type: image film, training film, trade fair film, tourism film, event film, YouTube video, etc.
- Number of days of filming required
- Travel expenses/travel expenses
- Duration of the film
- Size of the filming team
- Required equipment
- Location (filming permits, technical possibilities on site, etc.)
- Lighting technology (scope and type)
- Post-processing: Duration, animations, texts, panels, effects, filters, etc.
- Royalty-free music or music composition
- Speaker (professional or semi-professional)
Current market analyzes show that low-budget productions can start from around 1,000 euros, depending on the scope and requirements. Productions in the mid-price segment are often in the range of 3,000 to 10,000 euros, depending on the duration, the number of days of shooting and the quality of the technology. High-budget productions can cost well over 10,000 euros, especially if special effects, actors or elaborate locations are required.
In order to create a certain level of transparency, the sample calculation for a fictitious project can be helpful.
The following specifications apply to the project:
- Conception and simple film script: 400 euros
- 4 hours of filmingwith a statement from the managing director in the company with professional lighting and sound equipment including cameraman: 380 euros
- Travel costs: If the company in question is located in the location of the agency, there are no travel costs. Otherwise, 1.30 euros per kilometer driven will be added (travel costs including time costs).
- 1 day for video and audio post-production(Editing and sound) including logo display and contact details in the credits: 760 euros
- Royalty-free music: 60 euros
For exactly this film project there is a total price of 1,600 euros if the company in question is on site. However, this price is only a rough guide, because e.g. B. a subsequently desired logo animation increases the price significantly again.
The calculation for another company with different requirements will of course differ from the aforementioned calculation. Time expenditure, number of employees, duration of filming and editing as well as the length of the film are largely responsible for the costs of a production.
